The Extinct Dreams - Shining Of Beyond (Mini-CD)
The title of this second release by Russia’s The Extinct Dreams is hardly decipherable on this digipack with a nice layout. Some research told me that the title means something like ‘Shining From Beyond’ in English. The debut ‘Ars Moriendi’ didn’t impress me but I have to admit that this five-piece really did a good job on this disc. The band recorded two shorter ambient synthesizer tracks along with two long, both over fifteen minutes, melodic funeral doom songs with lyrics in Russian, Compared to the debut they really moved forwards and now they manage to keep my attention. Clean vocals, acoustic guitar parts combined with top-heavy passages make this an interesting release for fans of funeral doom metal with melody. As far as I’m concerned The Extinct Dreams now is a part of the list of interesting Russian doom metal bands.
