THE EXTINCT DREAMS - Shining of Beyond
THE EXTINCT DREAMS have a pretty dark and full of melancholy name that suits them just fine since they've chosen to follow and serve the doom metal genre. Actually their sound isn't that simple and since doom metal has several sub-genres I think I should clear out here that this Russian combo delivers ambient funeral doom metal that's infused and enriched with quite a few death metal touches that spice up the compositions and make them sound more extreme. The death metal aspect of their music is mainly to be found on the growling vocals and on some blast beats here and there. Other than that the songs are based and focused on the creation of dark and bitter emotions with the keyboards and the melodies from the acoustic guitar forming an atmospheric ambient end result. The lyrics are all sung in the band's mother tongue, which is Russian, so I can't tell you much about the topics they deal with other than what I've read in the press release and what I can assume from their cover artwork. THE EXTINCT DREAMS deal with astral themes and that's all the insight I can offer you! The artwork, layout and package are great and the production really good, so if you are a fan of ambient funeral doom/death metal then this might be a release you might wanna check out. The rest of you steer away!
